Today, we cover Northern Soul. Northern Soul is more of a cultural movement than a genre. British Teenagers revolted against the popular American Charts in favor of American Funk, Soul, and R&B rarities. Often times the B Sides were even more sought after than the hit. Their parties were fueled buy stimulants, heavily featured acrobatic dance moves, and offered an escape from a bleak economic and social era as Britain slid in to a time of decline that was especially hard on the working class.
