Once upon a time... a track by The Oh Hellos blew up on TikTok with the fantasy community. They posted whether they were the Soldier, Poet, or King. It's a great tune, but let's be real—it doesn't quite slap the way it should for our High Fantasy parties. In fact, there really arent many tunes made for dancing at Dungeons and Dragons theme parties. I know, you are just as shocked as I was.
In order to remedy, French Horn Rebellion and I decided this would be our next remix project. We spent countless nights working on it right before SXSW, but then we hit a roadblock: the band never got back to us about releasing it with their vocals. You can’t just put bootleg tracks up on spotify unfortunately, and it was too good to live on soundcloud! This setback ended up being a total blessing in disguise, because what happened next was life changing.
I decided to take a chance and reached out to my favorite Dungeons and Dragons creator, Ginny Di—and to my delight, she said YES to bringing her amazing vocals to the track! 🔥 It would be cool enough if she even listened to our remix, but the fact that she decided to work with us has left me on a high for the last year. For those of you who might not know, Ginny Di is a HUGE star in the D&D community, known for her incredibly popular YouTube channel, where she crafts iconic D&D characters and helps bring the world of tabletop roleplay to life. She's also a talented voice actor and creator, often featured in Critical Role's Campaign 3 and has worked with other big names in the fantasy space. Her creativity and passion made her the perfect fit for this track, and she absolutely slays her vocals.
